Our personalised mugs come in three kinds: a white mug with their name and words, a two-tone mug with a red, black or dark blue inside and handle, and a photo mug with a picture in a round frame. Choose words when the name is the point, two-tone for someone who likes a bit of colour, and a photo when there is a picture worth seeing every morning. All of them are 11oz ceramic, printed to order in the UK.
In short:
- Words and a name: the Thank You Mug with Name and Message is a good example.
- With colour inside: the Christmas Mug with Name, Two-Tone.
- With a photo: the Christmas Photo Mug with Name.
What every mug has in common
Whichever you choose, the basics are the same:
- Size: 11oz ceramic, a standard tea-and-coffee size.
- Care: dishwasher and microwave safe.
- Printing: each product page says how its design is placed. Two-sided designs read whichever hand holds the mug, and on the photo mugs the photo is printed twice around it.
- Personalisation: you type the wording or upload the photo on the product page, and we print it as you enter it. Some designs set a line in capital letters, as the product photos show.
The whole range is in our Personalised Mugs collection.
White mugs with words: when the name is the point
Our white mugs carry a title, a name and sometimes a date or a line of your own. They are the right choice when the words are the gift: Promoted to Nanny, Retired, Head Gardener, or simply a name.
Take the Personalised Thank You Mug with Name and Message. Thank You is printed in our serif above a terracotta heart, with their name in terracotta italic beneath (up to 20 characters), such as Nurse Amy or Coach Dan, and an optional line in small capitals (up to 25), such as For everything on Ward 7. There is no photo to find, and nothing to go wrong except the spelling.
Words-only mugs also suit memorial and sympathy gifts, where a photograph may be too much in the first months.
Two-tone mugs: the same idea, with colour
A two-tone mug is a white 11oz ceramic mug with a coloured inside and handle, in red, black or dark blue. You choose the colour on the product page. The colour shows as the tea goes down.
The Personalised Christmas Mug with Name, Two-Tone shows the idea. Add a name (up to 15 characters) and choose the line, so it reads Grandad's Christmas Mug, Mum's Hot Chocolate Mug, Dad's Christmas Tipple or Nan's Tea & Mince Pies, with a small marshmallow-topped mug above the name and a sprig of holly beneath. The red suits Christmas.
A few ways to pick the colour:
- Red for Christmas, Valentine's Day and anyone with a red kitchen.
- Black for someone who likes things plain.
- Dark blue for a quieter colour.
Some of our designs come in both versions. If you find a white mug you like, look for a two-tone version of it in the collection.
Photo mugs: when there is a picture worth seeing
A photo mug sets your picture in a round frame, with a name and an optional caption beneath, printed twice around the mug. The Personalised Christmas Photo Mug with Name adds a sprig of holly either side of the frame, with a name such as The Patels or Grandad (up to 15 characters) and a caption such as Christmas 2026 (up to 30).
Because the frame is round, the photo is cropped to a circle. Choose one with the faces near the middle and some space around them. The product page checks the photo as you upload it: photo mugs need at least 400 pixels on the shorter side, and our FAQ advises 1,000 pixels or more for a sharper print. The original file from your phone is better than a copy saved from a messaging app.
For a pet, there are photo mugs with a dog, a cat, a horse or a rabbit and their name, such as the Pet Photo Mug with Name.
Which to choose: a quick guide
- For a colleague or a Secret Santa: a white mug with a name. Quick to order, no photo needed.
- For someone who has everything: a two-tone mug, so it looks different from the ones they already own.
- For a grandparent, a parent or a pet owner: a photo mug, with the picture they would choose themselves.
- For a sympathy gift: a words-only memorial mug, unless you know they want a photograph.
- For a couple: two of the same design, one each.
Before you order
- Read the wording twice. We print it as you type it and we do not send proofs. Our FAQ explains how personalisation works.
- Check the photo on the page. If it is too small, the product page will not add it to your basket.
- Each mug is printed to order in 2 to 5 working days, then sent tracked. Delivery times and charges are on our Delivery page.
Personalised mug questions
Are your personalised mugs dishwasher safe?
Yes. Every personalised mug in our range is 11oz ceramic, dishwasher and microwave safe.
What is a two-tone mug?
A white 11oz ceramic mug with a coloured inside and handle, in red, black or dark blue. You choose the colour on the product page, and the design is printed on the white outside.
Is the design printed on both sides?
It depends on the design: each product page says how it is placed, and the photo mugs have the design printed twice around the mug, so it faces out whichever hand holds it.
How big does my photo need to be for a photo mug?
At least 400 pixels on its shorter side; 1,000 pixels or more prints sharper. The product page checks the photo as you upload it.
